Where to watch the Tour de France in Morzine

On Saturday 23rd July the eyes of the world will be on Morzine. Those of you lucky enough to be in town to watch the penultimate stage of the biggest annual sporting event on the planet are in luck. Here’s the two best spectator points and estimated arrival times of Le Tour along the Megeve > Morzine route.

Ranfolly Pass

Morzine’s Pleney cable car operates between 10am and 6.30pm. Head to the top of the Pleney then walk for around an hour to the Ranfolly Pass. This is right on the route of Le Tour!

Alternatively, the Nyon cable car is open 10am – 6.30pm. Take this to the Nyon plateau then hop on the Charniaz chairlift, which is open 10am to 4.30pm and then 5.30pm to 6.30pm (it closes for an hour to let the cyclists pass). The Ranfolly Pass is then a 15 minute walk.

If you’re in Les Gets, take the Chavannes Express cable car, which is open between 9am and 6.30pm, then walk for a further 15 minutes to the Ranfolly Pass.

The Finish Line

The world’s best road cyclists will cross the finish line directly outside Morzine’s Office de Tourisme, where you’ll also find a giant screen showing the whole stage of the race.

Depending on the speed of the peloton, cyclists are expected to arrive between 4.49pm and 5.17pm.
